Daniel Kaplan, Business Developer with Mojang, announced on Twitter that Mojang is cooperating with LEGO to establish an entire LEGO Minecraft series.

Daniel Kaplan on Twitter wrote:
LEGO® CUUSOO | LEGO Minecraft http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/4038 We are working directly with LEGO to make this happen. Please vote again :)

On this website people are able to contibute their ideas for the LEGO series. The Danish company is pretty excited for working together with Mojang, however to make sure that this will be a successful product, they stated that they only will establish the series if there are more than 10000 supporters on their LEGO® CUUSO website.

If the project becomes reality Mojang wants to donate ALL their earnings from it to public utility institutions.

Even if my LEGO experience is over for some years now, I always enjoyed playing with it very much when I was young. And I'm looking forward to the series.

Kind regards,
Vio

Haha, isn't LEGO the real-life version of Minecraft already? ;)

Anyway, last time I checked, there were 500 backers (3 hours ago), and it's on 2360 already. Seems like they're going to get to 10000 very soon!

They passed the 6000 supporters today! So that's another 5000 supporters in just 2 days. And I think the news didn't get around everywhere, yet, so there's still a lot of potential for attaining the 10000 supporters or even more!

Haha I still can't quite imagine to play Lego Minecraft. It's a bit odd to rebuild a world out of blocks with another world of blocks. But the main thing is it sells well, right? xD

Kind regards,
Vio

Ouhhh O.o Yeah they did... I didn't realise that until now. Obviously there's a mistake with the counter on their website, since it still sais 6043. Hmm, anyways :) Congratulations Mojang!!!

For everybody who is wondering what we're talking about:

This is the official Blog Post!
The Minecraft-LEGO project achieved over 10000 supporters within 48 hours :D That's absolutely amazing!!! No other project has been that successful before!

But watch out! It's still not 100% affirmed whether LEGO will produce a Minecraft series or not:
Quote:
What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Jury” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We'll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product, including playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand.

Whie the fit sounds obvious to Minecraft fans (Minecraft blocks and LEGO bricks look similar, so of course it's a fit), every single LEGO product goes through a similar process and must meet the same standards.

This review is a 1-2 week process. When finished, we make a "go/no go" decision to develop and sell Minecraft LEGO products. If it is given a "go," the project then enters the longest phase; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This takes several months.

Kind regards,
Vio

@Arkantheawesome Gosh your such a nuttball! xD

@topic Anyhow, I used to be a huge Lego fan and to see something like Lego Minecraft come out says something about Lego. While most companies wouldn't care for their fans, they make sure everyone is happy. You don't see that too often in a company. Even MLN was a great addition to the site because it make the aging Club Pages mean something rather then just be decorative is probably an innovative step. So I'm interested how this'll go out and whether or not people will buy this. I at least want to see it, even if I won't be able to buy it. It sounds pretty cool.

I'd get it, but the cost of LEGO is TOO DAMN HIGH! If they had sets that were 5 cents / piece, that'd be better, but it's as high as 12 cents / piece or more. :( LEGO, why have you forsaken me?
