This thread has all of the information neccessary for running an official Triple Elimination Danger Zone tournament, in the event I get sick or am unable to host a tournament
The 28th of February, 2015.
IntroductionThe Triple Elimination Danger Zone is a novel team-based tournament where you are based on your individual rating put together in randomized teams and unleashed against one another in a Bo3 double-decker team bracket. There will be new teams assembled every tournament, meaning that every winning team will be unique. The tournament is held on the last saturday each month.
The Triple Elimination Danger Zone primary ruleThe Rules in this document may never change.
Tournament Rule ModifiersCertain tournaments might add one or more of the following rules to keep the Triple Elimination Danger Zone fresh:
- Fiesta: 5-man teams.
- Danger-Danger Zone: You cannot use the 2 decks you submitted, instead you must use the 2 decks of one of your team mates.
- Deathmatch: Team point ties are instead determined through a final Bo1 game between the last two players, using the last played decks.
- Lovebirds: 2-man teams
- Lone wolves: Bo1 games utilizing Deck #1
Decks- You will choose two decks. No sideboard. Each match will be a best of 2 out of 3 games.
- Deck #2 must have at least 20 different scrolls than Deck #1
- Once you lose a game with your deck, you must switch to your other deck.
- Decks must always be played in the order you submit them.
- You must submit the decks you plan to play at least 24 hours prior to the start of the tournament on a form that will be posted.
Make sure you submit the decks you wish to play, and save those decks in your Scrolls account to avoid getting your games forfeited. Breaking the rules will always result in forfeiture - this is the danger zone.
The Teams- The teams in the Triple Elimination Danger Zone consist of 3 members, taken at random from one of three rating categories that you are grouped into based on your rating at the day before the tournament.
- Teams get to decide their own team name, which should be in via direct message at reddit (Squiddybiscuit) at least 2 hours prior to the start of the tournament. If you haven’t decided a team name, one will be given to you at the start of the tournament.
- Teams do not determine who they play against, rather the Official Triple Elimination Danger Zone Organizer or one of their Official Triple Elimination Danger Zone Organizer Deputies will match-up individual team members against members of another team based on the rating of the player.
- In the event of an uneven number of participating players, there might be 2-man teams who will instead of a third team member get a “substitute” life. This means that either of the two team members may play as the missing third player.
The Tournament- The format is team brackets, with matches being best of three.
- A team is scored 1 point for each win, and the team with most points in each team match-up advances.
- In the event of a point tie, the team with more victories advances.
- If a team member is missing, they may substitute it with another Scrolls player with a similar ranking. Substitutions must be okayed by the Official Triple Elimination Danger Zone Organizer of the event or one of their Official Triple Elimination Danger Zone Organizer Deputies.
- The final match will follow a King-of-The hill format instead, using one of the submitted decks, but they’ll stay with the selected deck for all their games. When a player is eliminated in a team, the next player plays the next game. When a player wins a game, they stay on to meet the next opponent player. The team that have all its participating members eliminated will lose the match.
