Tournament Structure & Rules:

  • A draw occurs when time is called and the match isn't over, except if one player used more than 22 minutes for his turns. In that case this player loses the game.

I am glad to announce that the tourney will be streamed. Streaming so far are:

Betting will take place here! http://bit.ly/scrollsbetting

Explanations:
  • Swiss Rounds: (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament)
First round gets random pairings(I might do it rating based though), after that players with equal points will (if possible) get paired against each other. A win is 2 points, a loss 0 points and a draw is 1 point. The ranking goes according to Progress- Buchholz - Berger System. http://www.swissperfect.com/tiebreak.htm
    The number of rounds are:
less than 8 players - 3 rounds (~2.5 hours for swiss)
less than 16 players - 4 rounds (~3.25 hours for swiss)
less than 32 players - 5 rounds (~4 hours for swiss)
less than 64 players - 6 rounds (~4.75 hours for swiss)
less than 128 players - 7 rounds (~5.5 hours for swiss)
The programm that will be used for pairings, standings and such can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/oswiss/
It is a freeware and seems perfectly suitable and super easy to handle. Just in case anyone has a use for that kind of thing.
  • Bye: Getting a Bye means that you don't have to play the first round of swiss, but get a free win (2 points), and start the tournament in the second round.

Please give me feedback and spread the word! This will hopefully be a really fun tournament, and I think a great number of competitors would make it all the more fun.

best regards
GuidoFubini
