So, I've been diving into the minds of the champions, and came up with these. There are a few phases for each character when placed on the field, and I had a few people voice each event.
  • Entrance
  • Attack
  • Getting Hit
  • Death

So I got a basic script together, and we made these. Clicking the image will take you to soundcloud.

Cay, Royal Envoy

Nuru, Flesh Seamstress

Top Reaver Thea

Image
Jarl Urhald

And, as a bonus, we couldn't decide which direction to take Nuru in, so here is an alternate Nuru voice:

Nuru, Flesh Seamstress Alternate

I've had a few questions on what it took to make these, so I'll paste over a reply I put up on reddit, and expand it a little:
It took two days just for scripting/getting into the character's heads. There's a limited bit of information, and we had to build on that. Certain assumptions had to be made, and in one case we couldn't decide. (Nuru) Just recording the voices took five hours in a studio. Yep, that's an hour of recording time per voice, for around a grand total (all characters) of about ten minutes of audio. All the voices (except Cay) went through adjustments, leveling, pitch correction, and so on. Small amounts of reverb for Thea and Urhald as well, to smooth out the tones. That took about another hour per voice again, and only after that did we select, from all the cuts, the pieces we thought worked for what we wanted. We used a compression mic with a baffle running into an audio effects panel, and that ran into the PC. We recorded and edited the vocal tracks using Cuebase, and we composed the explosion on one of Thea's soundclips from scratch- it's actually four different explosions carefully stitched together.

As I already said on the IRC, I freaking love this work (especially Cay)
Not only are the voice actors great, but the audio quality is too - this is amazing :O

(also, I prefer the first Nuru because it makes her sound more "female", if you know what I mean)

Give all of the voice actors my thumbs up will you :P

Good idea, lol the "your joking" for the jarl sounded a little derpy, I broke out in laughter.

I like the first Nuru better.

Well, 'derpy' wasn't what we were going for, but it's supposed to be his 'get hit' audio. For the other characters we have a variety of screams and grunts for that particular event; for Urhald, though, we thought it would be fitting with his personality if a skirmisher would run up, eat through a wolf or two, whack him, and he'd respond with "You must be joking." So laughter was the goal. :D

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing too, during the same discussion. It's why I went and got this together. :D

Have you SEEN these attacks? Holy crap, they're pretty epic on their own. (except Nuru, of course)
Cay, in particular, with that sword swipe, is awesome. Close second is Thea. Don't mess with that shoulder-cannon.

I also think the scroll should look different and are even more rare :D like super rare, or just champion (yeah a weird name for a rarity but it fits them :P )

These are all awesome ! Incredible work !
I feel that Scrolls is really missing on the sound atmosphere. Things like that could go a long way.

For the record, I prefer first Nuru :)

Thank you very much. I thought that the sound in Scrolls was good, but the Champions (Uniques, whatever) could use a little more 'oomph'.

They could call it an "epic" rarity. Something more than Rare and it would be similar to the Mythic rare is MTG

Thank you :)
I produced them. A few people I know did the voices, and we recorded and edited them in a professional's home studio.

This could actually be implemented via a mod, right?

I don't know. There are a number of other sounds, like grunts for getting hit, screams for deaths, and so on that have also been recorded.
