Does Pre-Alpha Count?
Friends and family of Mojang, rejoice:
There's a chance you've got pre-alpha access to Scrolls!
No worries if you haven't received your key, though: just 15 were handed out last week, as the closed pre-alpha of Scrolls commenced. Testing with such a small group gives Mojang the time to iron out the last few major bugs before they let the masses experience Scrolls for themselves.
Still, the update of the official site is yet to be rolled out. Presumably, the all-new website will hold answers to all our questions, which is a good reason to be patient. As we're getting closer to a public alpha, expectations over the incoming update and gameplay trailer continue to grow. Signup for alpha is still open on Scrolls.com, so head over there quickly if you haven't already!
In other news, Jon Kagstrom (Minecraft dev.) was defeated by Carnalizer (2D Artist) in a match of Scrolls, surviving long enough to provide a screenshot before his loss. (seen below)
A few things have changed since the last screenshot we've gotten our hands on: idols now show their hit points over their head, and a timer which likely shows how many seconds remain during your turn.
The match between the two Mojang employees also revealed a scroll: Hand of God, which has been added to the database. It's just a name, though: cost or stats of the scroll remain unknown. We presume it's a Growth scroll [given @carnalizer's resources], and costs a fair amount if it greatly helped him win the match. It should also be mentioned that we get our first confirmed look at Frostbeard, at the bottom-right of the screen (and his scroll at the top-left).
Lastly, do you remember the big, club-wielding troll named Abuser? One of the original four scrolls presented when the game was announced? Unfortunately, it probably won't return to be featured in-game: a tweet by Jakob reveals that it's currently not in the game. No word on the remaining three (Nightly Sinner, Synarian Sorceress and Dwarven Charger), but we suspect they've been left out as well. No hard feelings, though...we've got other green creatures to comfortably take its place.
