Description

Energy as explained by Acidjib:

The themes of Energy from a developer point of view is to have slower units that pack a hefty punch (e.g. Iron Ogre). It will also be the biggest source of direct damage scrolls to control the board through overwhelming damage scrolls. It is also the biggest source of ranged units that can attack from their position without charging into the range of a spiky unit. (e.g. Gravelock Elder, Cannon Automaton)

The strength of energy is its hefty damage scrolls such as Thunder Surge that can clear an entire board of weak creatures, or Violent Dispersal that will kill any unit immediately. Like Growth Energy has two groups of creatures, Machine Priests and Gravelocks. The big synergy between these are the Gravelocks as they are all given +1 attack and +1 health by any Gravelock Elder on the field, meaning that if you have three of them in play then your turn one Gravelock Raider can carry you through to victory. On the subject of the Gravelock there is the only scroll to have two resource synergy, the Gravelock Outcast. His ability is that you can spend one growth to return him to full health, which when three Elders are on the field will become six. Energy is also the biggest source of lobber units, (e.g. Destroyer, Catapult of Goo) units that can attack a four hex area on the board with each attack, ignoring any units that would normally block the attack. The downside of this is that they cannot damage idols and so cannot technically win you the game. You should still never underestimate the power of hitting a large area.

Lore

The units of Energy mostly originate from the region of Dyrra, a vast desert bordering Illmire (Decay) and Aescalon (Order). The denizens of Dyrra are often split into distinct groups. Machine Priests are mysterious religious figures (presumably mechanics of some sort), that discovered ancient machines from the old civilization that died out long before Scrolls begins. The Machine Priests began to worship these machines and learned to reverse engineer their tech. Automatons are metal constructs (likely made by the Machine Priests) that serve the people of Dyrra as pets, workers, and most obviously warriors. It is unclear if these creatures are sentient. Tribesmen is used to describe the people of the various tribes and outposts scattered throughout Dyrra. Many Tribesmen have tattoos of gears or other machinery on their arms, most likely to show their tribe or social status, thought this is unknown. Reavers are rebellious outlaws situated in an Aescalon territory that was once part of Dyrra. Gravelocks are a primitive, carnivorous race of humanoids most similar to Goblins in other works of fantasy. They are assumed to live in caves and burrows, perhaps in the more mountainous regions of Dyrra, and hunt the sparse, dangerous wildlife there. It is unclear what the relationship between these groups are, though some seem more intertwined than others. There are some units that are not affiliated with any groups like the various hired mercenaries and the incredibly strange Iron Ogre, which despite it's manufactured look, is distinctly not an automaton and has unknown origins.
