This is the version history of the test server. For changelogs of the live server, see Version history.

Below are changelogs displayed in the test client.

Keep in mind that these versions are different from those of live servers even when the version number is the same. Also, contents added in a test version are not guaranteed to be included in the next live version.

  • Added mustComplete(authorName, customMatchName) - Lets you chain custom matches so that a previous one has to be completed to play this one (single player only).
  • Added hide() - Lets you hide your custom match from the public while working on it.
  • Added ecDestroyIdols(playerSide, numberOfIdols) - Changes the end condition - match is won by player when numberOfIdols idols are destroyed.
  • Added ecClearAll(playerSide) - Changes the end condition - match is won by player when the opponent's side is cleared.
  • Added ecKillUnit(playerSide, row, column) - Changes the end condition - match is won by player when the unit that started on a specific tile is destroyed.
  • Added difficulty(none) - Makes AI passive (does not take actions).

  • The replay control bar can now be hidden or shown by pressing F3.
  • Keyboard control: Left arrow to start over, right arrow to fast forward, up arrow to pause/unpause.

Replays:

  • Added replay functionality.
  • Replays are saved for up to 9 days before being deleted.
  • Replays are accessed via the 'Watch games' button in the Arena.
  • Replay visibility is based on your spectator setting at the time the match is played. For example, if your setting at the time was 'Allow, but hide chat', any user can replay the match, but won't see your chat.
  • Replays are not guaranteed to be compatible between versions.

Custom Matches:

  • Updated custom match interface, and moved it to a separate scene instead of a popup.
  • New UI for showing pre-set decks and bets.
  • Code is now hidden until you click 'edit', meaning regular users only have to see the actual custom matches.
  • Better popup for accepting custom match invites, and longer timeout before match invite expires.
  • Added flavor(flavorText). Sets the description for this custom match. Remember that commas need to be escaped with \, or the description won't work.

Custom matches:

  • Enabled custom matches vs AI.
  • Added bet(amount) parameter. Takes that much gold from both players at the start of the match, and awards it to the winner after the match. Does not work vs the AI.
  • Added noTimer() to remove round timer. [Multiplayer only]
  • Added gameTimer(totalTime). When totalTime expires, the game is lost. [Multiplayer only]
  • Added accumulationTimer(startTime, extraPerRound). Each player has an accumulated time pool that increases when the turn ends. When a player runs out, the next player gets a turn. [Multiplayer only]
  • Added difficulty() parameter (takes easy, medium, hard) for custom matches against the AI.
  • Added deck(playerSide, cardTypes...). Example: deck(P1, 1, 19, 27) to give yourself a Gravelock Elder, a Metempsychosis and a Burn. Note: You can get the list of numbers from the export deck dialog in the deck builder.
  • Added chooseDeck(playerSide) to force deck selection popup for one player.
  • Added randomCards(playerSide, amount) to give a player a number of random cards.
  • Multiple card commands for the same player (deck, chooseDeck, randomCards) are added together. For example, chooseDeck(P1) combined with deck(P1, 27) lets a player choose a deck, then shuffles in a Burn.

Miscellaneous:

  • Increased max number of users in chat rooms to 100.
  • Hovering the card history in matches now shows visual indicators on the board. This is still work in progress.
  • Test server should now always be open to everyone [bug fix].

Known issues:

  • Idols in Judgement now have 6 Health.
  • You now pick only 35 scrolls when drafting the pool for your Judgement deck (instead of 45).
  • Some scrolls have been individually weighted to be less common in Judgement (mostly ramp, Surge, and powerful commons).

Judgement:

  • Judgement has been reworked. You can now sacrifice freely for Wild in Judgement. This is definitely still experimental, so please leave feedback. We'll also experiment with lowering idol Health in Judgement later on.
  • You can now view your Judgement deck (but not your sideboard) by clicking Judgement in the Arena, and then choosing 'Deck options' -> 'View deck'.

Custom Matches:

  • New rule: playCard(playerSide, cardName, row, column, [optional playerCaster]). Plays a scroll on target tile at the start of the game. Note: playerSide (P1/P2) defines which side it's cast on, and playerCaster who casts it. If playerCaster is undefined, the card is cast from the same side it's played on.
  • New rule: limitlessWild(). This unlocks Wild, so that you can freely sacrifice for Wild like in the new Judgement mode.
  • New rule: resources(playerSide, faction, amount). Gives starting resources of a specific faction. Note: faction is either growth, order, decay, energy or special (wild).
  • Fixed some issues with automatically generated custom game descriptions.

Damage Types:

  • We've split damage into three distinct damage types: Physical, Magic, and Pure.
  • Units deal physical damage in combat. All other damage is explicitly specified.
  • Physical damage is reduced by Armor and increased by Curse.
  • Magic damage is reduced by Magic resistance.
  • Pure damage cannot be reduced by anything (though it can be disregarded with Plating).

  • Fixed bug where mulligan buttons would sometimes not appear.
  • Fixed a small visual glitch where you could sometimes see through scrolls just above the card art.

Black Market:

  • Now shows how many scrolls you own in the buy view
  • The buy list can now be sorted by name, cost or price (still grouped by faction)
  • When selling scrolls, the popup now shows your share of the proceeds (price minus the fence's cut)
  • The '#:' filter now works in the buy view, filtering based on how many you own
  • Now lets you view scroll stats for scrolls you're selling, and owner history for scrolls you're buying
  • Added 'gold' or 'g:' filter to the buy view. Example: g:200- r:rare.

  • Fixed login issues when using both new and old launchers on the same machine.

  • Tutorials now properly give gold rewards, and get marked as done after having been completed.

Features:

  • We've introduced a new feature that lets you click certain scrolls to bring up more detailed rules. One or more highlighted words in the scroll rules indicates when this is possible. Any feedback on how this is presented or what concepts should be explained is much appreciated.
  • Attack and Health values on units are now tinted when their value has been increased above or below the unit's default value.
  • Added new guide popups that are shown the first time you view the Arena, Deck Builder, Crafting, Store or Profile pages. These can be brought up again by clicking the page's name while on it.
  • Added help texts for all game modes in the Arena.
  • Running the game with the old launcher now fully supports remembering login (using tokens - your password is never saved).

  • Adjusted wordings on a great number of scrolls for consistency and clarity. Attack/Health boosts, Countdown reduction, resource increase, damage dealing, 'while in play' modifiers and the use of gain/get have all been standardized.
  • Added descriptions for the following concepts: Base Countdown, Lingering spells, Move, melee combat, poison, current resources, healing, effects, Dominion, Pillage, Curse, Armor, Magic armor, Relentless, Piercing, Ward, Sift, curse triggering and pseudo-random countdown selection.
  • Added short descriptions for summoned creatures: Illthorn, Husk, Nog, Mangy Rat, Beast Rat, Gun Automaton, Bunny, Monstrosity, Ragged Wolf, Owl, Mire Shambler and Revenant.
  • Hitting Ctrl+S in the deck builder now brings up the save dialog.
  • Trial bosses now have a Boss enchantment tab.
  • Non-video settings are now saved per profile instead of per computer.
  • Added a sign out button to the splash page.

  • Added a 'Forgot your password' button that shows up if you enter an incorrect password.
  • Enchantment tabs on scrolls are now more tightly squeezed together if you have too many.
  • The game client now has a new icon to separate it from the launcher.

  • If one player fails to enter a match, neither player is given a victory or loss.
  • Fixed a bug where double scroll views could show up in the black market.
  • Fixed a bug where hovering traits on scrolls would sometimes behave incorrectly.
  • Now properly showing the highlight around library/graveyard when sacrificing for scrolls.
  • Attack glow is no longer always turned off when an ability is used (for example if a Gravelock Outcast has 0 CD).

  • Selecting 'Remember me' with the old launcher and then starting in via the new launcher currently causes incorrect behavior.

Features:

  • Added 10 new trials. In some of these trials, you will be using a fixed deck instead of choosing your own.
  • Black market:
    • Gold is no longer immediately awarded when you sell a scroll. Instead, players claim gold by going to the Black Market and clicking on a gold icon.
    • The cut taken by the fence has been lowered to 15% (was 20%).
    • Now uses more screen estate for improved readability.
    • Scroll lists are now sorted properly.
    • Now has a limit of 10 active offers per player at a time.
  • The arena has been given a new look, and single player quick match has been renamed to Skirmish. This overhaul is still work in progress.

  • Testing Grounds has been removed and replaced by Quick Match. As the test server is now open for everyone on Mondays, we'll run future tests here instead.
  • Lingering rework: You can no longer have multiple copies of the same Lingering spell in play. Instead, casting an additional copy of a Lingering spell will increase its duration correspondingly.
  • Added 'Sifting' scrolls. These use a new system for looking at a number of scrolls and picking some of them.

  • Decks can now be imported and exported in the deck builder. If you try to import a deck and don't own all the scrolls, the game will tell you which you're missing.
  • Added card owner history to card stats.

Features:

  • Reworked the ranking system. The game no longer shows others your exact rating or ranking. Players can still see their own rating, but not their ranking. Instead shows one of twelve different rank medals.
  • Removed old tutorial, and added first of two new tutorials; the second is coming later.
  • Updated the post-match screen. Now has new layout, lets you rate match enjoyment, and shows new player ranks in ranked matches.
  • The AI is now a touch more sentient. Prepare to get talked down!
  • You can now begin watching a match before the five-minute waiting period is over. This will take you to an empty battle screen.
  • We've added new animations for attacks, as well as improved screenshake behaviour.

  • We're experimenting with hand limits; you can currently sacrifice for scrolls only if you have 7 or less scrolls in hand.

  • Tier 3 scrolls now slightly increase match rewards. Drawing a T3 scroll increases a multiplier (2.5%, 5%, 10% for C/U/R), capped at 50%. After a game, match rewards are increased by this amount (excluding fixed rewards like idol or completion bonuses).
  • Added two new hard trials.

  • Temporary effects from spells and units are now marked as Effects rather than Enchantments.

  • Brother of the Wolf and many similar scrolls now increase their Countdown by the base value instead of a fixed number.

  • The auto-join cap for "General" chat rooms has been raised from 30 to 50.
  • Moderators can now temporarily ban users from chat rooms (up to one week).

  • New: Automata Forge (Energy). Strucutre, 0/3/5, cost 3. Instead of attacking, Automata Forge summons a Gun Automaton on an adjacent tile. Pay 3 Energy to decrease Countdown by 1. This ability can be used any number of times per turn.
  • New: Metal Wonder (Energy). Structure, 0/-/4, cost 4. When opponent plays a Spell or Enchantment, Metal Wonder deals 2 damage to a random opponent idol.
  • New: Wings Shield (Order). Creature, 2/2/3, cost 3. Wings Shield has Armor X, where X is the number of units behind it (combat damage dealt to Wings Shield is decreased by X).
  • New: Faith Duty (Order). Enchantment, cost 2. Enchant unit you control. At the beginning of each of its turns, enchanted unit is dealt 1 damage and opponent units on that row get their Countdown increased by 1.
  • New: Crone (Growth). Creature, 0/3/2, cost 3. Crone does not attack. When Crone is destroyed in melee combat, the attacking unit is destroyed.
  • New: Stag Heart (Growth). Enchantment, cost 2. Enchanted unit gets +1 Attack and +1 Health for each Stag Heart in play.
